Care Instructions for Cedar?

Here are our recommendations to care for your cedar furniture:

1. Hand wash periodically with mild detergent and a soft rag, and rinse with water. For stubborn stains or mildew, apply a mild bleach and water solution, rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry before applying any stain or sealant.

2. Watch for moisture around metal. When cleaning around screws and bolts that are holding the piece together, it is important to ensure that you dry around the area once complete.

3. Unfinished cedar ages naturally to a silver-gray finish with a raised grain. Wood sealer helps preserve the original warm color and protects the wood to create a moisture barrier on the cedar.

4. For a colored finish, apply a transparent or solid stain every couple of years. We note what stain we have applied to your piece in your order information for future reference.

5. Check and tighten fastenings each season and, if possible, consider storing cedar furniture indoors or use a cover.

Care Instructions for Hardwood?

Here are our recommendations to care for your hardwood pieces:

1. Hand wash with water. Use soap as necessary. Do not soak hardwoods or put in the dishwasher.

2. Let board air dry overnight.

3. If board is showing some wear, apply a food grade wood oil and reapply to board. We use Walrus Oil.

4. If needed apply board cream to protect from liquids and stains. It’s preferable to use a mineral oil and beeswax board cream.
